Navigating the Blackboard
A Qualitative Study of Findability on the Utrecht University Blackboard Learn App
For this study, we looked at how Utrecht University students find course material, assignments, and grades in the Blackboard Learn mobile app. We ran a diary study and a usability study, then coded the findings with Straussian Grounded Theory.
Students could reach the right content, but the app made them work for it. Extra taps, unclear navigation, confusing labels, and bugs kept interrupting routine study tasks.
